Signature

NEET UG 2028 has not been announced, but the pattern is steady: the form is expected in February 2028 and the exam on the first Sunday of May 2028. Recent cycles asked for two photos of 10–200 KB, a 4–30 KB signature, finger and thumb impressions, and 50–300 KB PDF certificates.

This page is for students now in Class 11, and for repeaters planning a 2028 attempt.

What you will probably need

File Format Size (2026 cycle) Notes
Passport size photo JPG 10–200 KB Colour, white background, face about 80%
Postcard size photo (4 x 6 inch) JPG 10–200 KB Name and date printed below
Signature JPG 4–30 KB Black ink, not in capitals
Finger and thumb impressions JPG 10–200 KB Blue ink on white paper
Class 10 certificate PDF 50–300 KB Date of birth proof
Category / PwD certificate PDF 50–300 KB If applicable

What to do before 2028

Match your records. Your name, date of birth and parents' names on the form should match your Class 10 certificate. Fix any mismatch with Aadhaar well before February 2028.

Plan certificates. If you will claim OBC-NCL, EWS or a state domicile, look at what the 2027 bulletin asks about validity dates. Apply for fresh certificates in late 2027 so they fall within the window.

Repeaters. Keep your 2027 application number and confirmation page, and note any problems you had with uploads.

Preparing the files when the form opens

  1. Take a new photo in 2028 against a white background. The 2026 rule needed a photo taken on or after 1 January of the exam year.
  2. Resize the passport photo with the NEET photo resizer, and shrink the postcard photo with compress image to 200 KB if needed.
  3. Sign on white paper and fit it to 4–30 KB with the NEET signature resizer.
  4. Scan certificates and use compress PDF to 300 KB so they stay readable but fit.

Timeline notes

  • Form opens: expected February 2028.
  • Last date: expected March 2028.
  • Exam: expected first Sunday of May 2028.
  • Result: expected June 2028.

All of these are estimates from the 2026 cycle. The official notice on neet.nta.nic.in is the only confirmation.

Getting the postcard photo right

The postcard size photo (4 x 6 inch) is the file most often redone. In the 2026 cycle it was expected to come from the same photo session as the passport photo, with your name and the date of the photo printed at the bottom. The simplest route is to ask a photo studio for both sizes at once, with the name and date strip, and to get the digital files as well as prints.

If you take the photo yourself, use a plain white wall, even daylight and the rear camera. Keep the head straight, ears visible and the face taking up most of the passport frame. For the postcard version, keep more of the upper body in the frame, as the bulletin describes.

Order extra prints. NEET has asked candidates to bring a passport photo to paste on the attendance sheet and a postcard photo on exam day, and counselling bodies often ask for more copies.

Common reasons uploads get rejected

  • An old or edited photo, or one with a coloured background.
  • Missing name and date under the postcard photo.
  • Faint thumb impressions.
  • A signature in capital letters.
  • Files just over the size limit.

Questions

When is NEET 2028?

No date has been announced. Based on recent years it is expected on the first Sunday of May 2028, with the form in February 2028.

What photo size will NEET 2028 need?

Recent cycles asked for a passport size and a postcard size photo, each JPG between 10 KB and 200 KB. NTA could change this, so check the 2028 bulletin.

Can I use my NEET 2027 photo for NEET 2028?

Probably not. The 2026 bulletin required a photo taken on or after 1 January of the exam year, so plan to take a fresh photo in early 2028.
