How long should my password be?

At least 14–16 characters. Use a password manager so you do not need to remember it.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript, so your files never leave your device. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it keeps working.
