IBPS Handwritten Declaration Format: What to Write and Size
What to write in the IBPS handwritten declaration, the rules (English, own handwriting, not capitals) and the 800 x 400 px, 50–100 KB upload size.
The IBPS handwritten declaration is a short statement you copy from the notification in your own handwriting, in English, not in capital letters, using black ink on white paper, then upload as a JPG of 50–100 KB at 800 x 400 pixels (200 DPI). In recent notices the text starts with "I, (name of the candidate), hereby declare..." and confirms that the information in your form is correct and that you will produce supporting documents when asked. Always copy the exact wording from your own notification.
What to write in the handwritten declaration
The text is printed in the "How to Apply" or "Guidelines for scanning and upload of documents" section of the IBPS notification. In recent IBPS notices it has three parts:
- "I, (your full name), hereby declare" — write your name exactly as in the form.
- A statement that all the information you submitted in the application form is correct, true and valid.
- A statement that you will present the supporting documents as and when required.
That is the structure; the precise words are in your notice. Copy it word for word from the notification you are applying under. Coaching sites sometimes show older or slightly different versions, and IBPS can change the wording, so do not copy it from a website screenshot.
SBI uses a similar handwritten declaration for its PO and Clerk forms, and its wording has been close to IBPS's, but again, copy SBI's notice for SBI forms.
The rules for the declaration
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Handwriting | Your own, in your normal writing |
| Language | English only |
| Letters | Not in capital letters |
| Ink and paper | Black ink on plain white paper |
| Dimensions | 800 x 400 px at 200 DPI (about 10 x 5 cm) |
| File size | 50–100 KB |
| Format | JPG/JPEG |
IBPS notices have said that if the declaration is written by someone else or in any other language, the application will be considered invalid. Notices have also allowed candidates who cannot write to have the text typed, with their left thumb impression below it; check the exact provision in your notice if this applies to you.
"English only" and "not capital letters" in practice
- Write in normal sentence case: a capital letter at the start of the sentence and for your name, small letters elsewhere.
- Cursive or print-style handwriting are both fine, as long as it is yours and readable.
- Do not type it, trace it, or use a handwriting font.
- If you make a mistake, start a fresh sheet rather than scratching it out.
How it should look on the page
Think of the declaration as a short paragraph, not a list. Write it in three or four lines across the page, with your name on the first line where the text asks for it. Keep even margins on the left and right and leave a little space above and below. A block that is roughly twice as wide as it is tall fits the 800 x 400 px shape best, so you lose nothing when it is resized. Do not add a signature, date or thumb impression below it unless your notice asks; those are separate uploads.
How to write and photograph it
- Use plain, unruled white paper. If your lines tend to slope, put a ruled sheet underneath as a guide; the lines will show through faintly but will not appear in the photo.
- Write with a black gel or ball pen, at a comfortable size. Fill roughly a 10 x 5 cm area, or a little more.
- Put the paper on a flat surface in daylight, with the flash off.
- Hold the phone directly above it so the text is not slanted, and tap to focus.
- Take two or three photos and choose the sharpest one.
How to resize the declaration (800 x 400 px, 50–100 KB)
- Open the IBPS declaration resizer and choose the photo.
- It crops to the 2:1 shape, resizes to 800 x 400 px and compresses to 50–100 KB, with black & white switched on so the ink stays crisp.
- If your text block is not roughly twice as wide as it is tall, set Fit to "Fit inside with white border" so no words are cut off. Or crop it first with crop image.
- Download
declaration.jpg, zoom in, and read every word. If a line is cut or blurry, fix it before uploading.
All of this runs in your browser, so your handwriting and name stay on your device.
The other three IBPS uploads
The declaration is one of four uploads. The others are:
- Photo: 200 x 230 px, 20–50 KB.
- Signature: 140 x 60 px, 10–20 KB, not in capitals. Use the IBPS signature resizer.
- Left thumb impression: 240 x 240 px, 20–50 KB. Use the IBPS thumb impression resizer, and see our thumb impression guide for how to take a clean print.
Common reasons declarations are rejected
- Written in capital letters. By far the most common slip.
- Wording that does not match the notice, often copied from an old coaching page.
- Typed or written by someone else.
- Written in Hindi or another language.
- Ink other than black, or coloured paper, where the notice says black ink on white paper.
- Words cut off by cropping, or text too small to read.
- File outside 50–100 KB, including too small.
- Uploaded in the wrong box. Name your files clearly.
Reuse it carefully
You can reuse the same declaration file across IBPS forms in a year only if the wording in each notice is identical. Compare them line by line before reusing; if anything differs, write a fresh one. It only takes a few minutes.
Questions
What do I write in the IBPS handwritten declaration?
Copy the declaration text printed in your IBPS notification, putting your own name where it says. In recent notices it begins "I, (name of the candidate), hereby declare" and confirms that your form details are correct and that you will present supporting documents when required.
Can I write the IBPS declaration in capital letters?
No. IBPS notices say the declaration must be in your own handwriting, in English, and not in capital letters. A declaration written in capitals is a common reason for rejection.
What is the IBPS handwritten declaration size?
Recent IBPS and SBI notices ask for 800 x 400 pixels at 200 DPI (about 10 x 5 cm), as a JPG/JPEG between 50 KB and 100 KB.
Can I write the declaration in Hindi?
IBPS notices have said English only. Notices have stated that a declaration in another language, or written by someone else, makes the application invalid.
